What was the best way to see some of Scotland’s stunning Highlands scenery and get a trip to Loch Ness into the bargain? The tour we went for was the 3 day Skye Isle tour from Edinburgh and boy, was it worth it!
What I loved about te trip was that I had no driving to do
at all – as this is a minibus trip plus the cruise on Loch Ness. Also, I loved
all the information we got from our guide . He was amazing.
What we got from this tour.
We stayed on the Isle of Skye for 2 nights and the accommodation was excellent.
Loved the digestible doses of Scottish history as we travelled and marvelled at the driving. I was so glad I did not have to cope with those harrowing roads. Just amazing views without any worry about parking in the right layby or whatever.
Here are some of the highlights of the tour we did:-
Dunvegan Castle – the oldest continuously inhabited castle
in Scotland. It has been the residence of the MacLeod clan for 800 years!
The Talisker Whisky Distillery – just a taste of great
single malt whisky and learnt so much about what goes into making whisky.
The Fairy Pools - the magical atmosphere of this series of
crystal-clear pools and waterfalls gives
us a clue as why they are called The Fairy Pools. There are some magical powers
around! Also there are so mnay birds in the area - crows, gulls, meadow pipits,
and turnstones just to name a few. Yes, you can swim in the waters but they are
very cold so a wetsuit is not a bad idea!
Loch Ness. One of the many options and some of these options require an admission ticket. See if you can spot the Loch Ness Monster! We took the cruise and the views are fantastic indeed. This combines well with the vist to Urquhart Castle. The video shows a similar cruise from Inverness.
